Okay you can put your hand back down, but let’s unpack all of the above. The truth is, everyone struggles with dressing a part of their body at some point in their life: big tummy, long torso, thick thighs, broad shoulders, [insert yours]. Over the years, the one frustration that frequently comes up with our clients is around the midsection, the muffin top, the Mom-pouch, THE TUMMY, you get it. It’s a sensitive area that many try to hide with oversized clothing, fearing that slightly fitted clothes will immediately reveal what’s underneath; a perfectly imperfect body.
Today, I’m here to liberate you and trash some myths about oversized purchases. For one, our body’s are all unique and change as we change so you’re not alone. And second, there are ways to dress your tummy without hiding it and or buying shapeless clothes.
I’m beyond excited and confident about this series because I’ve literally seen clients tear up when clothes actually flatter their body shape. It’s like watching them get their confidence back. Before we start, the first thing to change is your mindset around dressing your tummy. Every time you want to buy something, ask yourself if it’s your size and if it will flatter your tummy.
You might think that bigger is better but that’s a misconception. Buying clothes that are 1-2x larger than your size, in the name of hiding your tummy, will make you look bigger than you are. Instead, embrace your actual size and tummy, and aim to flatter it with the right shapes & styles. Try to imagine how the item will fall on your body and I promise that this approach will lead you to more flattering clothes.

Find dresses that highlight the smallest part of your body then drape over your midsection.
Try this KMU exercise: hold your hands on either side of your waist and move them up and down (maybe even close your eyes). The part where your hands get closer to each other is the smallest part of your waist and THAT is the area you want to define the most.
